On July 19, 2005, Mr. Bufe provided an update on employment law issues to the Longview, Texas Chapter of the East Texas Human Resource Association (“ETHRA”). Topics discussed included current issues related to harassment in the workplace, including the importance of periodic supervisor training; compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and its overtime provisions, and implementing the new requirements of the related Department of Labor Regulations; implementation of “neutral absence control” policies to manage the employee on a prolonged medical absence; use of Executive coaching to assist managers with dysfunctional leadership styles; and consideration of binding Arbitration or Jury Trial waivers as an alternative to jury trial litigation of employment disputes.
Mr. Bufe has been Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1983, and regularly represents Texas employers in a wide variety of employment law matters, including litigation of employment disputes in Federal and State Courts, and in Arbitration.
