On November 4, 2004, John Bufe presented a paper to 60 attorneys, CPAs and Financial Planning professionals concerning current issues in Employment Law. The continuing education presentation discussed sexual harassment and steps employers can take to avoid liability; the evolving threat of class action sex discrimination claims, such as the pending national litigation against Wal-Mart; special problems managing injured or ill employees, including obligations imposed by the Family Medical Leave Act; the implementation of Arbitration policies that require all workplace disputes to be litigated there instead of before a jury; and strategies for the protection of trade secrets and to avoid unfair competition by ex-employees, including effective policies for this purpose.
Mr. Bufe regularly advises East Texas employers and defends against employment claims in arbitration, state or federal court. He has been Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1983.
